Rules and Regulations
Introduction
Stafford Springs Cemetery is a historic nonprofit cemetery dedicated to the respectful care, preservation, and perpetual maintenance of burial grounds entrusted to our stewardship. The Cemetery reserves full authority over the use, care, and regulation of all lots and grounds.
General Conduct
Visitors must conduct themselves respectfully at all times. Children must be closely supervised. Running, climbing on monuments, or disruptive behavior is prohibited. Prohibited activities include disorderly conduct, alcohol or illegal substances, damage to property, and removal of decorations.
Cemetery Hours
Open daily from sunrise to sunset. Visitors must exit by sunset unless attending an authorized service.
Vehicles and Traffic
Vehicles must remain on roads and operate at low speeds. No driving on graves or lawns. No recreational vehicles. Yield to funeral processions and staff.
Pets
Pets must be on a leash at all times. All waste must be removed immediately. Pets may not urinate on monuments or walk across graves. Violation may result in pets being prohibited.
Water Features and Ponds
No swimming, wading, or ice skating. Conditions are hazardous and may change without warning.
Decorations and Floral Regulations
Flowers are permitted. Glass, large structures, and unapproved items are prohibited. Seasonal cleanup may result in removal of decorations. The Cemetery may remove items interfering with maintenance or safety.
Monuments and Markers
All monuments require approval. Foundations installed by cemetery or approved contractor. Cemetery is not responsible for settling, leaning, or damage over time.
Monument Size Guidelines
- Single: 24–30 inches
- Double: 36–42 inches
- Family lots: subject to approval
Burial and Interment
All burials must be scheduled. The Cemetery controls placement, depth, and corrections if necessary. Cremation placements are subject to cemetery approval.
Lot Ownership
Lots convey the right of burial only. Transfers must be approved and recorded.
Grounds Maintenance
The Cemetery maintains grounds and structures. No unauthorized alterations are permitted.
Photography and Media
Personal photography is allowed. Commercial or drone use requires approval.
Contractors
Contractors must be approved, insured, and scheduled. Unauthorized work is prohibited.
Liability
The Cemetery is not responsible for theft, vandalism, weather damage, or natural conditions. Visitors enter at their own risk.
Enforcement
The Cemetery reserves the right to interpret and enforce all rules.
